Got The Shot

THERE’S SO MUCH MORE TO GREAT BRITAIN THAN LONDON
Famous for its iconic film and TV locations, Great Britain has long been the real star of the show. So when VisitBritain and Expedia wanted to tap into the growing ‘set-jetting’ travel trend, we used humour and entertainment as the perfect vehicle to spotlight lesser-travelled parts of the UK for new global audiences. Teaming up with comedians Lara Ricote (The Mitchell and Webb Look) and Stevie Martin (Taskmaster), Got The Shot follows our location scouts-turned-travel guides as they venture across the UK in search of hidden cinematic gems — the backdrops that deserve a spot on every traveller’s wish list.
LOCATION SCOUTS AS UNEXPECTED TRAVEL GUIDES
Got The Shot wasn’t your typical travel show. The premise? Two rising comedy stars, Lara Ricote and Stevie Martin, became location scouts for the day across Scotland, Wales and North East England. Their brief: find the most epic, unexpected settings for a range of film genres—from dragon-slaying cave adventures to Martinis worthy of a certain secret agent.
TRAVEL FOMO WITH HUMOUR, CHARM AND FUN AT ITS CORE
Our three-part series gave viewers plenty of reasons to visit GB—delivered with humour, heart and a refreshingly different take from the usual influencer-style travel listicles.
DESTINATION IMPACT
The show helped audiences rediscover Great Britain. Many viewers said the series revealed “a more fun side” of the country, contributing to a 72% positive sentiment score. Even though awareness of GB was already high, Got The Shot drove significant behavioural shifts: +45% uplift in awareness, +16% in perceived desirability, and +10% in booking intent.
BRAND-LEVEL IMPACT
Got The Shot transformed Expedia from “just a travel site” into a brand viewers considered to be more fun, modern, creative and relatable than before.
